Dear Micah (Two Years Old)

Our Darling Two Year Old,

1) You have a sense of humor like none other. You started telling jokes at 18 months and continue to make us laugh everyday.

2) You have a vocabulary of a three year old (at least). You surprise us everyday with the things you understand and the words you know. You have also learned words and phrases in Dutch and Chinese.

3) You love music and rhythm. You love to dance and sing. You are constantly making up songs like the "Reading the Book Song", "Poo-Poo Song", and "Pee-Pee Song".

4) You love to eat. You can spend hours just sitting and eating. Sometimes it takes you so long, it's almost time for the next meal when that one is finished.

5) You are an old soul. You have maturity and insight that extends well beyond your years.

6) You have an intense love for books. You can memorize parts of a new book after just hearing it once or twice. You can sit and listen to books for hours.

7) You learned math at a very young age. You know the answer to 1 + any number up to 9.

8) You also learned to recognize all 26 letters of the alphabet and all the numbers.

9) You have lots of questions to ask. You started asking questions right before you turned two and you ask more and more questions everyday. "What's Micah doing? Why? What's this one?"

10) You are one cautious little guy but you have still had your share of bumps and bruises. You take everything very slowly and carefully, assessing each new situation before you try it.

11) You can count to 20 and sing the ABC's.

12) You LOVE to cook. Your specialty is making "soup".

13) You love to be outside. You love camping, gardening, playing at the park, playing with storm drains, chasing the neighbor's cat, playing with your sandbox, and sitting on Daddy's lawnmower.

14) You are still very quiet when you are somewhere new or around people you don't know. The louder everyone is around you, the quieter you get. You like to just observe and absorb it all in.

15) You've learned how to open doors. Our favorite time of the day is when you come running into our room with all of your "friends" in your arms and hop into "Mommy Mommy Micah Bed" with us to snuggle. You light up our mornings with hugs and kisses.

16) You may not know how to jump and you may not run very fast, but you love to play at the playground. You are so brave now. You love hanging off of monkey bars and climbing up ladders.

17) You have an incredible memory. You can still remember events and people you met from six or more months ago.

18) You love spicy food. When we tell you that you can't have something because it's spicy, you always say, "Try it!". After you take a bite, you say, "Spicy AND yummy! Both!"

19) You are an aspiring climber. Daddy continues to make your climbing wall harder and harder, but you just climb right up it. When you climb the rock wall at the playground, you always sit down and take off your shoes first before you climb it!

20) You are the sweetest boy we know. You love to give all kinds of kisses (sometimes even to little girls on the playground) like "super kisses" and "eskimo kisses". You love to squuuueeeeezzzeee really tight for hugs.
