Chen Family Christmas

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones! Here are some pictures and a video from our Chen family Christmas. Poor Micah celebrated his first Christmas with a 104 F degree fever, which later turned out to be roseola. Amazingly, he handled it like a champ and still enjoyed opening and playing with all of his presents. 

Now onwards to the Hawaii to celebrate Christmas and New Years with the Robinson family!

Dear Micah (8 Months)

You acquired so many new skills this month! You seem to learn new things very quickly. Sometimes we only have to show you how to do something a few times, and you’ve got it down. You learned how to wave, turn off lights, stick out your tongue, and shake your head "no". You are a super crawler now! You are so fast and can easily transition between sitting and crawling. You pull up on everything around you and even cruise a little bit. Daddy put you on the stairs and you crawled right up to the top without any trouble. You are already a climber in training! In fact, Daddy started helping you work on your core strength by holding down your feet while you do sit ups. You did 21 sit ups in a row on your first try! You love to throw your hands up above your head when we say “So big!”. Anytime we say “Yay!” or “Good Job!”, you smile and clap your hands. You are always so proud of yourself. You really seem to understand things we say to you. You always study the movement of our mouths and try to mimic everything we say. You can repeat many new words like, “Mama”, “Lao Ye”, and “Dog”. You still say “Dada” the most, especially when you see him. You are also learning baby signs and know how to do the signs for “more” and “milk”. You love to squeal and laugh. You giggle like crazy when we say “Moo” and snort like a piggy. Mommy is an expert at finding your secret tickle spot. You love to sit up high on Daddy’s shoulders. You must feel like you are on top of the world! You love to sit at the table and feed yourself. You have two bottom teeth now and will eat just about anything. We never leave the house without your snacks. You love to eat Cheerios, puffs, and yogurt melts. You’re moving away from eating pureed foods now and want to eat finger foods more. You love to feed us too. Sometimes, you’ll even take something out of your mouth and give it to us. You are so generous! It’s getting cold out now, so we are spending more time indoors. You saw snow for the first time just a few days before Christmas! You have a whole roomful of toys that you have very little interest in, but you can spend all day in your room pulling down books from the shelves. You also love to crawl into the kitchen to play under the table and chairs. You especially love to play with all the plants in the house, pulling off the leaves and examining them. You are becoming more social now and love to go out and seeing new faces. However, you definitely did not like your visit with Santa Claus. Despite our sneaky tactic to get you on Santa's lap, you just screamed and cried the entire time. As long as strangers keep their distance, you will politely smile and wave to everyone. We love the little person you are becoming and can’t wait to see what you learn to do next!
