So it begins...

With all the newly acquired free time I have now, I've finally decided to start a blog for our little family - Y&CR & ??

Yes, "The Dumpling" has not made his appearance yet...in fact, I wrote a little letter to him the day after my due date:

Dear Dumpling (AKA Hercamer),
You are welcome to come out and play anytime now. You are causing Mommy a lot of discomfort when you have your little dance parties all day and night. We are all so excited to meet you. We are nice people, so please don't be afraid to come out and meet us!

The night I wrote this, I started having some fairly regular contractions (or so I'm assuming). No one really tells you what these so-called "contractions" are supposed to feel like. I'm still so confused about what my body is trying to tell me. Did I eat something bad? Do I have a gas? Do I need to go to the bathroom? Or the baby trying to come out? It's all one big mystery that you are just supposed to figure out on your own. I figure if the contractions are "real", I wouldn't be second guessing myself and mistaking it for gas. CR was skeptical of my confusion - he was convinced they were contractions. In fact, after I suggested that we just go to bed and see what happens, he asked me - "Do people ever give birth in their sleep?" Yeah right, honey, I wish it was that easy.

So, we called it a night, went to sleep, woke up this morning...and alas, there was no baby in our bed.
