"It's America's Birthday!!", Micah announced, as he happily bounced towards me, proudly holding up the masterpiece he created at school.
We celebrated the special day with a trip down to the St. Charles Riverfront. After first stopping by one of my favorite parks for some fun water play, we headed to the fair to see the fireworks show. We had some time to kill, so we walked around the fair and stopped by the carnival. Flashing neon lights, screaming kids, vomiting-inducing rides = Christian's worst nightmare. Micah, thankfully, did not inherit his father's motion sickness genes. He bravely went on his first carnival ride, not once, but twice, and proclaimed that he will be back to "ride the purple car next time".
We finished off the evening sitting on the riverfront, watching hundreds of fireworks light up the sky. Micah took turns sitting on each of our laps, holding our hands over his ears, mesmerized by his first true celebration of America's birthday.
